Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union Receives Legacy Business Award
Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union recently received the Historic Preservation Commission’s Horry County Legacy Business Award. The Legacy Business Recognition Program pays tribute to local businesses that have contributed to the economic heritage of Horry County for more than 50-continuous years.
Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union, was established on April 28, 1958, as the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base Federal Credit Union (MBAFB), to provide needed financial services to the civilian and military personnel serving at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. The MBAFB Credit Union was originally a part-time operation with one employee located in a one-room office in the base combat support facility. Over the years, the Credit Union charter was amended and the company expanded and diversified its membership. With the announced closure of the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base in 1991, the MBAFB Credit Union changed its name to Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union.
