The 2020 Annual Meeting for Carolina Trust will be held on Thursday, April 23rd at 3:00pm at our Myrtle Beach branch, located at 1010 21st Avenue North. The meeting is open to all members of the Credit Union. We hope you’ll join us to learn more about the state of your Credit Union.

Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC)
Members of the Carolina Trust leadership team attended the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference, which allows Credit Union leaders all over the country to join at Capitol Hill and advocate for the credit union movement. At our core, we are people helping people, and GAC provides us with the opportunity to help our members by taking their financial concerns directly to state legislators.
National Random Acts of Kindess Day
In honor of Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17th, Carolina Trust employees visited Autumn Care of Shallotte and delivered Valentine’s Day cards, candy, flowers and reachers to the residents.

IRA Contributions and Considerations
The SECURE Act, which became law on December 20, 2019, made a major change to the RMD rules. If you reach the age of 70½ in 2019, the prior rules apply and you must take your first RMD by April 1, 2020. If you reach 70 ½ in 2020 you must take your first RMD by April 1st of the year after you reach 72.

IRA, Roth IRA, HSA, and Coverdell Education Accounts Prior Year Contributions:
If you did not maximize your contributions in the prior year, the IRS allows you to make a contribution in the current year and apply it to the prior year, provided you make the contribution by the tax deadline, April 15.
